We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.<\/li>\n<li>Your IP address, which our website uses to show you the right language version and to protect the site against spam and attacks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>If you subscribe to our newsletter<\/h3>\n<p>Your email address and subscription preferences, managed through Mailchimp. The consent checkbox on the form records that you agree to this use.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To run a project with you<\/strong> if you become a client, including sharing the necessary brief with the artists, writers and translators working on it, under confidentiality (Art. 6(1)(b)).<\/li>\n<li><strong>To protect the website and our inbox against spam and abuse<\/strong> (our legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)).<\/li>\n<li><strong>To meet legal obligations<\/strong>, for example accounting and tax records for client work (Art. 6(1)(c)).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for automated decision-making.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Service providers we use<\/h2>\n<p>We share personal data only with providers that help us run the website and our business:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Google Workspace<\/strong> (Google) \u2013 email, including delivery and storage of contact form messages<\/li>\n<li><strong>Xserver Inc.<\/strong> (Japan) \u2013 hosting of the website<\/li>\n<li><strong>CleanTalk<\/strong> \u2013 spam filtering of form submissions (checks details such as email address, IP address and message)<\/li>\n<li><strong>CookieYes<\/strong> \u2013 management of your cookie choices<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mailchimp<\/strong> (Intuit) \u2013 newsletter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you become a client, the artists, writers and translators working on your project may receive the information they need to do the work, under confidentiality obligations.<\/p>\n<h2>5. International transfers<\/h2>\n<p>CATACI is based in Japan. The European Commission has recognised Japan as providing an adequate level of data protection (adequacy decision of 2019, confirmed in its 2023 review), and the United Kingdom recognises the same. Some of our service providers may process data in other countries, such as the United States. Where this happens, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the EU\u2013US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission&#8217;s Standard Contractual Clauses.<\/p>\n<h2>6. How long we keep your data<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Inquiries that do not lead to a project: 24 months, then deleted.<\/li>\n<li>Correspondence and records for client projects: for the duration of the project and as long as required by accounting and tax law (normally 7 years).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>7. Your rights<\/h2>\n<p>You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, or to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
